Our Story
In December 2023, something special arrived in downtown Taunton. Talisa's on Main opened its doors as the first Black woman-owned community-based wine hub in the city, bringing a fresh perspective to Taunton's dining and nightlife scene. What started as a dream to create an inclusive, welcoming space where everyone could explore and enjoy wine has blossomed into a beloved neighborhood gathering spot.
From the beginning, our vision was clear: create a wine bar in Taunton that breaks down barriers and makes quality wine accessible to everyone. We wanted to build more than just a place to drink. We set out to create a community hub where diverse voices in winemaking are celebrated, where neighbors become friends over a shared bottle, and where wine education happens naturally through conversation and exploration.
The response from our Taunton community has been overwhelming. What began as a leap of faith has grown into a thriving wine bar where regulars greet each other by name, first-time wine drinkers discover their new favorite varietals, and celebrations, both big and small, find their home. Talisa's on Main has become part of the fabric of our city's revitalized downtown district.
Every bottle we pour, every event we host, and every guest we welcome is part of our ongoing story—a story of representation, quality, and community that continues to unfold with each passing day.

We've set an ambitious goal to source 75% of our wines from woman-owned and minority-owned wineries. Every bottle on our shelves represents our commitment to amplifying voices that have historically been underrepresented in the wine industry.

Meet Talisa Proctor:
Founder & Owner
Behind every great wine bar is a person with a vision, and for me, that vision is personal. As a wife, mother of two, and self-described "party hostess extraordinaire," I bring more than a decade of Human Resources experience to my role as the owner and curator of Talisa’s on Main. That HR background isn't just a footnote—it’s the foundation of everything I do here.
After 10-plus years in HR, I learned exactly what makes people feel welcome, heard, and valued. I wanted to create a space where those principles could come to life—where everyone who walks through my doors feels like they’re coming home.
My journey to becoming a wine bar owner combines a deep-seated passion for wine with my expertise in business development, branding, and strategic partnerships. As Taunton’s first Black woman wine bar owner, I’m not just running a business; I’m working to pave the way for greater representation in an industry that has historically lacked diversity.
My Approach to Curation
I believe that supporting diverse winemakers and pouring exceptional wine go hand in hand. My approach is personal and purposeful:
